Welcome—or welcome back—to the University of Southern Maine! As we open our doors on this new academic year, I am filled with excitement and optimism for what lies ahead for each of you and for our community as a whole. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning to campus after a well-deserved summer break, I want to personally extend my warmest greetings. Our University is a vibrant and deeply engaged community, and each of you plays a vital
role in making our university the special place that it is. This year, our University continues to grow and innovate, and as the
new academic year begins, I am particularly thrilled to invite you to experience the Crewe Center for the Arts. This is a vibrant new hub for creativity at USM! Whether you are an artist, performer, musician, or simply curious, the Crewe Center is open to
everyone who wants to explore, create, and connect. Plan to join us for exhibitions, concerts, workshops, and hands-on events designed to bring together students from all backgrounds and interests. Whether you want to showcase your talents, collaborate with peers, or just enjoy the inspiring atmosphere or a performance, the Crewe Center is your space to belong. We’re proud of our tradition of academic excellence, engaged learning, and community impact. I invite you to make the most of all we offer. Get involved in clubs, cheer on our Huskies teams, attend campus events, and connect with faculty and staff who are here to support your success. And be sure to visit the Career and Employment Hub on our Portland campus. Our career-focused academic programs are helping more graduates find meaningful internships and employment in Maine and beyond, and the Hub plays a central role in making these opportunities possible. You have chosen to pursue your education at a time when the world needs your energy, creativity, and compassion more than ever. I encourage you to approach this year with curiosity and courage. Celebrate your achievements, learn from challenges, and remember that you are not alone on this journey.
