As someone who doesn’t actively know anything about football, it is clear to me that the New England Patriots have done a phenomenal job this year. It is an amazing time to be a Patriots fan, not only because we have been actually winning but also because I don’t have to listen to my uncle scream at the television. Trust me when I say it is truly refreshing to just hear him complain about literally anything else now.
Drake Maye has been throwing the ball flawlessly, almost as well as my uncle used to throw the remote across the living room when the Patriots were losing left and right. Thanksgiving will be truly satisfying for college students who have families who are football-obsessed in the New England region. Hopefully, it will allow for people, myself included, to have a breath of fresh air from the complaints coming from my beloved uncle and the recharging of mental health before the finals season demolishes us, just like the Patriots have been demolishing their opponents on the field.
The current Patriots standing in the AFC, which means the American Football Conference, or as I like to call it, All Families Celebrating, is currently nine and two. Nine being the number of games won and two being games lost. When I tell you, out of the twenty-one years of listening to my uncle be baffled by some weird moves the players are pulling on the field, and making eye contact with my very annoyed aunt from across the room, I still can’t tell you a single thing about this sport. End zone, dead ball foul, six seven, they all sound the same to me.
One thing that I do know for sure, the Patriots have not had a good season, at least in the eyes of my uncle and many uncles across New England, since Tom Brady left. I hope this article has enlightened you, and you best believe I’ve been rubbing my hands while typing this up, probably like Drake Maye when he watches his best highlights on the field. To all the Patriots fans on the USM campus, kiss your Drake Maye poster goodnight, wash your lucky jersey, or do whatever you guys do in order for New England to keep winning. My mental health and my uncle’s anger management depend on it.
