Gorham, Maine, The University of Southern Maine faced off against Thomas College on October 15, in a thrilling home match that kept families and friends excited for the outcome. The game ended with a final score of 0:1, as Thomas College scored throughout the second period.
Throughout the whole game, when there seemed to be no hope, Huskies showed that they still have a lot of fight in them, and one goal won’t discourage them. And with the support of the spectators, it was a good game, although they still lost. Our field hockey team is hungry to show what they’ve got for their next game.
After the game, Bonny Brown, the USM field hockey head coach, reflected on the team’s performance, “We doubled very well, we played well, the next game will be us showing hunger.”
Ivory Spaulding and Bri Townsend, both forward players, also had things to say: “I am feeling proud of the hard-fought game we played today and looking forward to sharpening small skills the next couple of days to come out hungry in the next game,” Townsend said. “We played hard the whole time, even with 30 seconds on the clock, we never gave up, and we are staying hungry for the win,” Spaulding commented
Despite the outcome. USM showed teamwork, fighting spirit, and energy throughout the whole game, as we all can tell they are hungry and ready to show us what they have on the next game Tuesday October 21, at 7 PM at Hannaford Field, Gorham Campus, against New England College. So come bring yourself, family and friends and come support our players
