On September 24th, I attended the yearly tour that $uicideboy$ holds, and this year was a fantastic experience. Last year, they held the Massachusetts tour date in Boston at TD Garden, but this year they played at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield. Accompanied by Chetta, Germ, Night Lovell, and BONES (with TEAM SESH), they put on a visually distinct show that kept everyone engaged from start to end, even through the rain towards the end of the show.
The show started at 6:30 PM and ended a few minutes shy of 11 PM. Each artist who took the stage had great stage energy, and there was constant crowd interaction, which I love to see. The artists told jokes, gave inspiring words, commented on outfits, and created some chants. Ruby and $crim of $uicideboy$ each gave heartfelt speeches about sobriety, getting help, spreading love, and their second chance at life. Past attendees of GreyDay will know that this has become a recurring thing at their shows in recent years since the two of them got sober. Throughout the whole night, there was great energy in the venue, but when $uicideboy$ took the stage, the energy expanded tenfold.
Complete with stage props, camera effects, visualizers, and pyrotechnics, the duo had an electric set. They played songs from their new LP, “THY KINGDOM COME”, bringing up Night Lovell and BONES for their features on the album. Additionally, they played songs from their ten-plus-year catalogue for longtime fans, like “2nd Hand” and “Not Even Ghosts Are This Empty”. BONES played classics like “Rocks”, “RampartRange”, and “CelebrityDeathMatch”, as well as newer songs like “AirplaneMode” and “LooseScrew”. Night Lovell also played older hits and newer songs, from “Dark Night” and “Jamie’s Sin” to “GOLDEN TICKET” and “Alone”. Germ and Chetta each served as the first openers, playing their hits and features with other artists on the ballot.
