The glass door of a vending machine in Robie-Andrews Hall was smashed by non-resident Andrew Stern police said. Police issued Stern a summons to court and charged him with criminal mischief.

A wallet from an office on Bedford Street was stolen.

A purse was stolen from the Glickman Library. Detective Sgt. Ronald Saindon said faculty and students should keep valuables in secure and safe areas.

A WMPG Radio storage room window was broken. Police conclude it was criminal mischief and an attempted burglary.

A Portland Hall resident was harassed resulting in the arrest of Ferang Mabior, age 28 of Park Avenue, Portland, Maine, police said. Police said he was charged with stalking. He was released on bail with condition of no contact with the victim and is not allowed on University property.

A male was assaulted in Portland Hall. Police said Andrews L. Elkington of 638 Congress St. in Portland was issued a trespass notice for all property belonging to the University. Detective Sgt. Saindon said that the Attorney General’s Office is reviewing the case as a hate crime.

The USM Police Department and the Health and Human Service Office of Inspector General is investigating a fraud and embezzlement case on the Portland campus. Detective Sgt. Saindon would not comment. (See Fraud, Page XX)

Harassment and criminal threatening occurred on the Gorham campus. Detective Sgt. Saindon said a Wood Hall resident reports being harassed based on ethnicity, and adds that it is under investigation as a possible hate crime.

A hit and run occurred in Portland campus lot P-2. This is still under investigation, said Detective Sgt. Saindon.
