By Julz Levesque, Arts & Culture Editor
The Free Press has had some major updates this year and among some of them are fresh faces. A new print layout has ushered in some new editors on the team including myself. My name is Julz Levesque and I am your new Arts & Culture editor for the paper! If you’re a frequent reader of the Free Press you may recognize my name from the MovieTalk section which I am continuing this year so stay tuned. It’s my fourth year here at USM and I’m a media studies major with a minor in cinema studies. This is my second year working with the paper and I am delighted to have gotten the editor position especially because I am so passionate about the arts as a whole. I came to USM originally to study art but gradually made my way into media studies. I hope to bring both of these perspectives to the section and provide entertaining but also educational and informative content to other students interested in art, film, literature, and culture. With my position as Arts & Culture editor I’d like to review various types of media, give recommendations, and also write about events or opportunities that could help other students find a clearer path or even to foster their hobbies. If you’re a media studies major such as myself or even a person who is interested in film, art, and pop culture I’d love to hear your ideas and stories for the paper. Welcome back and I hope everyone has a fantastic academic year!
