The University of Southern Maine men’s hockey team advanced to a record of 8-12 after collecting back to back wins on the road this past weekend. In two games, the Huskies scored eleven goals while holding their opponents to only four. On Friday, they faced Castleton University (7-15) and ousted the Spartans with a final score of 7-2. The victory was driven by freshman Ethan MacDuff (2 goals) and senior Austin Marini (2 goals, 3 assists). Junior goaltender Mason Palmer made a career-high 45 saves in the win. They carried this momentum into Saturday’s game against Skidmore College (16-5), beating the Thoroughbred’s 4-2. Eight different Huskies made it onto the scoresheet, including sophomore Jakub Suran, (1 goal, 1 assist) and freshmen Matt Sullivan, Ethan MacDuff, and John Hagan (1 goal each). The Huskies will play at home on February 9th and 10th before the regular season comes to an end.
