News 8 (WMTW-TV) and USM are hosting a debate with the five gubernatorial candidates from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18, in Hannaford Lecture Hall on the Portland campus.
The event, called the Maine Debate, will be carried live on News 8 and WMTW.com. News 8 Anchor Shannon Moss will moderate the debate. The public is invited to submit questions for the candidates on wmtw.com.
Students, faculty and staff tickets will be available on Thursday and Friday, Oct.14 and 15. Tickets can be picked up on a first come, first-served basis at the Student Involvement and Activities Center in the Woodbury Campus Center, Portland; in the Campus Involvement and Activities Office in the Brooks Student Center, Gorham; and from Dan Philbrick in the USM-LAC administration office. The limit is four tickets per individual.
USM’s Office of Public Affairs says there are around 125 seats set aside for students.
Members of the public and students, faculty and staff can pick up tickets at USM’s Abromson Community Education Center, on Bedford Street in Portland. Those tickets will be available on a first come, first-served basis beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18.
