USM students pay various fees for “services” provided by the college. Some of these fees, included in all student bills, goes to the “transportation” services of the school. Services like a shuttle to Gorham, so useful to us with our own vehicle or with no classes EVER in Gorham. What else does the “service” provide? It certainly does not provide commuters with car repairs, or free replacement of our student ID’s, or free Metro passes. Nor does it cover a simple jump to get you out of that barricaded fortress of a garage. My battery died a few days ago and the campus “transportation services” in no way assisted me with transportation. I couldn’t even borrow a set of jumper cables as the school does not have them! I could have really used that hundred dollar transportation fee then! These fees are preposterous!
