JN: First off, what is your major?
AB: I am a nursing major with a minor in holistic health.
JN: What is the best moment you have had as an athlete here at USM?
AB: I’ve had a lot of really great moments as an athlete here at USM, but I would really like to say thanks to my coach and teammates for allowing me to have another great year. The academic/athletic schedule really started to clash for me this year but my team and coach have been awesome about allowing me the opportunity to finish out my senior year as a student-athlete, not just a student. I love them all for it!
JN: I heard you are involved with SAAC. If so what is that like and how has it added to your experience as an athlete at USM?
AB: I was co-president of SAAC last year. It was great experience because I was able to be involved with every team in some aspect. I was able to help communicate the needs of the student-athletes to the administration and gain more insight as to what goes on at the administrative level.
JN: Why was USM your choice for school?
AB: I chose USM so that I could pay in-state tuition while I tried to figure out what I wanted to major in. Thankfully it ended up being the right choice. I love my major (the nursing faculty are great!) and I get to play the sport I love.
JN: Is the team coming together well this year?
AB: The team is coming together really well this season. Being a group of 23 girls we naturally have our ups and downs but I honestly couldn’t ask for a better group to spend my last year at USM with!
JN: You’re a senior this year, so what are your future plans?
AB: My future plans are to pass the NCLEX after graduation, and when that is done I would like to work in a large hospital somewhere outside of New England. Once I gain the experience I need I would love to get a position as a travel nurse, and play in various soccer leagues wherever my job takes me.
JN: Thanks Andrea, and good luck with everything.
