Tuesday, September 27th
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is hosting The Geometers’ View of the Derivative: A Unifying Concept by John Brunette, USM assistant of professor of mathematics and statistics. The event will take place in 1 Payson Smith from 2:35 to 3:35 p.m.
The Department of Geosciences is hosting Withdrawls of Water from Domestic Wells in the Virginia Coastal Plain, taught by Jason Pope, a hydrologist for the U.S. Geological Survey. The event will take place from 12 to 1 p.m. in room 109 of Bailey Hall on the Gorham campus.
Wednesday, September 28th
Perween Hasan will be participating in an event titled Women and Religion from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Glickman Family Library on the Portland campus.
The Environmental Law Society and Ocean and Coastal Law Journal will be hosting a slide show and lecture by Tora Johnson, author of Entanglements. The presentation will focus on the political climate surrounding efforts to save the last 300 North Atlantic right whales from extinction. The event will take place at 12:10 p.m. in the Moot Courtroom in the University of Maine School of Law.
Close to Home, a dramatic production written and performed by local community members, will be presented in order to facilitate dialoge about Question 1 on the November referendum. It will take place at 12 p.m. in the Woodbury Campus Center Amphitheatre.
Thursday, September 29th
The USM Fall Arts Festival will give students, faculty and staff the opportunity to sell their arts, crafts and other hand made items on the lawn outside Robie-Andrews and Corthell Hall. The festival will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. For more information, call 780-5485.
Friday, September 30th
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics presents Exploring the Application of Queuing Theory to the Measurement of Biochemical Networks by Eric Swallow, M.S. in applied statistics candidate for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The event will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in room 403 of Luther Bonney Hall on the Portland campus.
