Doras Chirwa, the HIV/AIDS Coordinator for CARE Zambia, will give a guest lecture entitled “HIV and AIDS in Zambia” on Thursday, March 10, at 4:15 p.m. in room 402, Luther Bonney.
Chirwa worked with CARE International in Zambia for the past ten years. Like many other African women, she has been directly affected by the AIDS pandemic. After losing several siblings and her 16 year old niece to the disease, she is now taking care of four more children in addition to her own three.

Changes
The March 1st Caregiver workshop sponsored by Healthy USM: Portland Wellness Committee titled “Balancing Work/Life Issues” that was canceled due to a snow storm has been re-scheduled to Tuesday, March 15th from 12 to 1 PM in Room 216 of the Sullivan Gym.
The March 18 33rd Student Senate meeting has been cancelled.

“Women of Color in the Americas: New Scholarship on Race and Sex.” Panelists: Eve Raimon will discuss and sign copies of her new book, The “Tragic Mulatta” Revisited; David Carey, Jr., will discuss his forthcoming book, Engendering Maya History; Maureen Elgersman Lee will discuss her forthcoming book, Black Bangor. The event is sponsored by the Women’s Studies Program and the African American Collection of Maine/ Jean Byers Sampson Center for Diversity in Maine.
The event will take place in the Glickman Library, 7th floor University Events Room, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
