Governer marks passage of ranking aide
Governor John E. Baldacci directed the United States flag and the State of Maine flag be lowered to half staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, October 28, 2004, in the City of Portland in memory of and respect for Gene E. Burchill, Sr., who died at the age of 68 on October 24, 2004. Mr. Burchill served in the United States Marine Corps an dedicated his life to veterans, veteran organizations and numerous charities. He served as Aide-de-Camp to Governors King and Baldacci, and held the rank of Colonel.
Student Senate fills open chair
Miranda Richards, junior and nursing major, was appointed to the USM student senate on October 29, with the support of the student senate appointments committee. She fills one of the open residential chairs.
Student senate empties filled chair
30 minutes into the senate meeting on October 29, Student Senator Lyana Wannemacher was removed from the USM student senate due to a fourth unexcused absence. Wannemacher is the third senator removed for accumulating four absences since the beginning of the semester.
USM to provide buses to the polls
On Tuesday, November 2, USM will be providing free shuttle vans to and from local polls. Vans will leave every hour from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Portland vans will leave from the Woodbury Campus Center, and Gorham vans from the Brooks Student Center. Portland voters will need to know their designated polling location beforehand.
