Huskies win fifth straight title, tallying 218.50 points to easily outdistance runner-up Keene State College, which amassed 126.50 points. Westfield State College (109.5) followed in third place, while Eastern Connecticut State University (57 points).
The meet saw three USM school records fall. The new school records were set by juniors Sara Marzouk, Wilder, VT, and Kristen Sinclair, Manchester, ME, and sophomore Dianna Thibaudeau, Sanford, ME. Marzouk won the steeplechase in 11.57.04 to eclipse her own record of 12:03.54, while Sinclair won the hammer throw with a toss of 138-8, to break the standard of 138-1 set by Kelly Busby. Thibaudeau finished second in the 400 meters in 59.07 seconds to surpass the former mark of 59.24 seconds set by Angela Whelchel in 1991.

Freshman Trey Gadbois, Portland, ME, set three individual records and provisionally qualified for the 2004 NCAA Division III National Championships in the 110-meter hurdles. In addition, Gadbois placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a school record time of 56.07 seconds to break the mark of 58.46 seconds established by Peter Corbett in May 1999. Gadbois won the triple jump with a leap of 44-7 (13.59 meters) to break his two-week old mark in that event by an inch. Competing in five events, Gadbois also had second place finishes in the high jump (6-1 1/2) and long jump (21-10). Other school records set in the meet included freshman Chris Hopkins, North Blackfield, MA in the 1500 meters and the 4 x 100-meter relay team.
