USM student among six honored statewide for public service
USM senior Mary Cameron was one of six statewide to receive the Heart and Soul Award from the Maine Campus Compact, which President Pattenaude co-chairs. Cameron raised $8,600 for the Maine Alzheimer’s Association hiking the Appalachian Trail. Other noted students hailed from Saint Joseph’s, UMaine Augusta, Umaine Farmington, Bates and Bowdoin. The Maine Campus Compact is a coalition of 19 college and university presidents established to foster community support.
Graduate admission open houses approach
Those considering graduate school are encouraged to attend an open house on the Gorham or Portland campus. Representatives from many of USM’s graduate programs will be answering questions and handing out literature. There will also be cookies. The Gorham open house will be held on Thursday, April 8 in Bailey Hall’s room 301 from 3 to 5 P.M. The Portland open house will be held Tuesday, April 13 in the Woodbury Campus Center Ampetheater from 3 to 5 P.M.
