Name: Joe Mancini
Age: 22
Major: Jazz Performance
Where are you from? Bennington, VT
What brought you to the area? What do you think of it?
I really wanted to get out of Vermont, and there’s a great music scene here. And the Sax teacher is awesome. There’s no country music here, either.
Why did you choose USM?
Because they accepted me and it was near the ocean. Besides those two things, it was for the music.
What would you do to make life better for the USM student?
Valet parking, beer in the vending machines, and no more parking tickets!
College: educational enrichment or four-year party?
It’s going to be five years for me….
What is the most significant thing that you have learned here?
Never eat the seafood at ARAMARK. That was a mistake. Also, I learned how to network as a professional musician.
What do you do when you are not at USM?
I play in Sly Chi and skydive.
How does your major and educational direction compare to your childhood aspirations?
I’m right on track, so far. I just have to make the rock star thing happen.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
The feeling I get after eating ARAMARK.
Where would you like to travel and why?
Canada for Labat Blue and Nashville for music.
