Nurses on the run
The first round of Fast Track nursing students graduated Aug. 22 with a B.A. of Science in Nursing. The Fast Track Nursing Program is a 15 month degree program designed to speed students holding degrees unrelated to nursing through their schooling. It began in the summer of 2002 to address the nursing shortage. 50 percent of the graduates have already found jobs in nursing.
Mentors needed
Sweetser Children’s Services, a 175 year old organization, is in need of volunteers and mentors for the Greater Portland area. There are currently 24 children and adolescents on wait lists for mentors. If interested contact Berthiame @ 294-4970 or email [email protected]
Bernie’s time to chill
Bernard Golder (a.k.a. Bernie) retired from the University Police Department after 10 years of service. He served 33 total years in law enforcement.
Oh those changes!
David Pearson was elected Director of Media Studies this summer. Former Director Dan Panici is on sabbatical and will return to the University in the spring. Media Studies is in the process of merging back with the Communication Department.
Yes, parking…again.
The parking garage construction is on schedule and should be open for Jan. 2004. In order to accommodate individuals parking in the Marginal Way lot, another shuttle bus has been added so the wait doesn’t exceed 10-20 minutes.
