The Student Senate granted $2,500 of $6,784.20 in unallocated funds to the Health Outreach to the Dominican Republic International Program. Many senators expressed concern that students are earning credits for the trip. Sen. Joshua Dolby said that the proposal “sets a rough precedent.” Other senators agreed. The Senate suggested the group budget this money at the beginning of the year from now on but granted the money.
USM Recycles asked for $300 for Earth Day activities and received it.
Sen. Ezekiel Kimball announced the Student Affairs Group will be meeting Tuesday, April 22 to address administrative and academic concerns at the University.
Sen. Daryl Morazzini announced that the Board of Student Organizations will hold its final meeting on May 2. He also announced he will be this year’s commencement speaker.
USM Student Involvement Recognition Night will be held this year at President Pattenaude’s house at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. Andrea Thompson McCall, assistant to the Dean of Student Life, said the president is “opening his house in a very generous and symbolic way” and encouraged all student leaders to attend.
Janine Gorham announced that 11 Baxter Blvd. still has space available for any student group that needs it.
Dolby motioned for a moment of silence for Rachel Morales, who lost two family members last week.
Thompson McCall announced a spring buffet and interfaith service to be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23.
