USM volleyball had a successful week, defeating UMass Boston in straight sets, last Wednesday in Gorham. In the victory Freshman Amanda Starkey had a team high 13 kills. Sophomore Mandy Dessert helped with her team leading 24 assists. It was their 7th victory of the season leading them into the weekend tournament in Farmington.
At the UMaine Farmington invitational the volleyball team won their first two matches before losing to Salem State. They were defending champions in the invitational but fell short of defending their title. Amanda Starkey and Mandy Dessert continued strong play through the weekend. Marcy Muller a fifth year graduate student delivered a strong performance in the second match of the tournament against UMaine Presque Isle.
Salem State ended the Huskies 3 game run on Saturday. They lost in 4 sets, 3 sets to 1.
The team will be back in action next Wednesday at Bowdoin.
