A resident adviser reported two suspicious males wandering the corridors in Hastings Hall. The subjects, who were selling magazines were ordered off campus and Gorham Police Department was notified. “Soliciting in residence halls is not permitted,” Detective Sgt. Ron Saindon said. “Students need to be aware of letting people into the residence halls who they do not know because you never know who that person may be.”
Wednesday, Sept. 18
Criminal mischief was reported at the Sullivan Gym after a glass panel was found broken. The cost of repair has not been estimated. The case is under investigation. It may be labeled as accidental.
Thursday, Sept. 19
At about 3:45 a.m., USM police responded to a residence hall’s call and found that a male resident had been assaulted. The injury did not require medical attention. Detective Sgt. Saindon advises all students to “call police or resident director if there is a disturbance and not to try and confront the situation themselves.” The assailant has been issued a court date for Oct. 7, police said.
Friday, Sept. 20
An unknown individual gained access to the USM police radio frequency. The individual was making obscene comments. Police checked all radios and all were accounted for. “Interfering with emergency communications or vehicles is a criminal charge,” Detective Sgt. Saindon said. “This can also interrupt an emergency response to a medical emergency, or any other which puts communication at risk.”
