Two male juveniles who were guests of a resident at Portland Hall were issued criminal trespass orders after the destruction of wall posters in the residence hall. The trespass orders prevent the two juveniles from returning to any residence hall on the USM campuses.
A large, unruly group of people was creating a disturbance after quiet hours outside Upton-Hastings on the Gorham campus. An officer dispersed the group.
A Gorham student reported being followed onto campus by an angry motorist. Words were exchanged between the student and motorist. The altercation is still under investigation.
A theft from a motor vehicle was reported from the Ice Arena on the Gorham campus. It is still under investigation.
Monday, March 11
Criminal mischief was reported after someone used a marker to draw on the wall between second and third floor stairwell at Portland Hall.
Criminal mischief was reported when vandals took unauthorized use of a bulldozer and drove it onto the baseball field behind the Towers on the Gorham campus. They caused several hundred dollars worth of damage.
Motor vehicle damage was reported when a mirror was torn from a vehicle parked at Portland Hall.
Criminal mischief was reported on the Portland campus after a parking meter was damaged. Police believe someone was attempting to steal the quarters.
Tuesday, March 12
A noise disturbance was reported in the Yankee Clipper area of Portland Hall.
A person acting suspiciously was reported in the Law School, but the reports were unfounded.
An officer reported damage to a parking boot. It is still under investigation
Possible counterfeit money was reported, but the reports were unproven. The money was not counterfeit.
Wednesday, March 13
In Portland Hall, there was a noise complaint in the Yankee Clipper area. Another noise complaint was later reported in Portland Hall’s A-wing.
A student reported receiving a harassing e-mail in Gorham’s Wood Hall.
Illegal fireworks were reported at Gorham’s Upton-Hastings Hall.
A marijuana violation was reported in Gorham’s Upton Hall.
Thursday, March 14
In Portland Hall, the Portland Police Department arrested Ruth Miller, 19, for domestic assault for an incident that occurred in downtown Portland.
Friday, March 15
A noise complaint was reported at Gorham’s Anderson Hall.
At 2:32 a.m., a noise complaint was reported on the third floor of Anderson Hall on the Gorham campus. On the same floor of Anderson, at 2:37 a.m., an assault was reported. The incidents are still under investigation.
At 2:15 p.m., a report of criminal mischief was filed on the Gorham campus when the taillights of a vehicle were smashed out. The incident is still under investigation.
A disturbance was reported at the Portland Hall dining area at 12:42pm. Val N. Gray, 31, was given a trespass order barring him from returning to all USM campuses.
Saturday, March 16
A motor vehicle hit-and-run was reported at Bailey Hall on the Gorham campus. It is still under investigation.
In a case of criminal mischief, a fuse box was torn of its hinges at Robie Hall on the Gorham campus.
Monday, March 18
Criminal mischief was reported at the Law School on the Portland campus. A third floor window was struck by a pellet from a pellet gun.
Tuesday, March 19
On the Gorham campus, damage to a motor vehicle was sustained when a windshield wiper was broken off.
Update: Courtney Rideout, 20, and Amy Mathuewezski, 20, were summonsed to court for “Allowing minors in a place under their control to possess and consume liquor.” Their court date is April 18, 2002.
Wednesday, March 20
A pedestrian reported harassment by students at Portland Hall. It is still under investigation.
At 11:16 p.m., a marijuana violation was reported at Dickey Hall on the Gorham campus. It was referred to the Office of Community Standards.
Monday, March 25
A digital camera and a Sony Playstation were stolen from 208 Dickey Hall on the Gorham campus. The burglary is still under investigation.
Tuesday, March 26
Trashcans were tipped over on the fifth floor of Wood Hall on the Gorham campus at 3:05 a.m. Later, at 3:25 a.m., a fire alarm went off on the first floor of Dickey Hall after the glass case holding an extinguisher was smashed.
Thursday, March 28
Harassment was reported at Portland Hall at 1:20 a.m. It is still under investigation.
Sunday, March 31
At 2 a.m., criminal mischief was reported at Portland Hall when eggs were thrown from an adjacent building to a room window.
Monday, April 1
Burglary and theft were reported at the Law School caf? at 7:30 a.m. when someone broke into a locked cooler and stole milk and soda. The incident is still under investigation.
At 10 a.m., reckless conduct and harassment were reported at lot P-3 on the Portland campus. Update: Christopher Laplante, 21 of South Portland was summonsed to court. He is charged with reckless conduct.
Tuesday, April 2
Drug paraphernalia was found at Wood Hall on the Gorham campus at 3:20 p.m. It was referred to the Office of Community Standards for conduct violations.
At 6:17 p.m., harassment was reported at Hastings Hall on the Gorham campus. It is still under investigation.
Wednesday, April 3
At 5:36 p.m., a theft of a wallet was reported from an office in Masterton Hall.
Update: The wallet was found in the Old Port, but it was missing cards and cash.
