Only four seasons since its inception, Southern Maine women’s hockey is at the top of the rankings. The team has made a tremendously strong showing this year, led by ECAC All-Stars Holly Manning, junior forward, and sophomore Karen Jamnik, named ECAC East Goalie of the Year.
“We’ve done very well this year. We’ve played tough,” reflected Coach David Venditti. “I’m happy with the successes we’ve had as a team and this weekend [semifinals and finals] is the icing on the cake.”
With over a week between quarter and semi-finals, and a key player out due to injury, it was feasible that players could lose motivation. However, according to Venditti, just the opposite is true.
“[The week between games] gave us time to focus. We take it one game at a time . and stay focused and we have a good opportunity to win.”
