Individuals Make A Difference
To the Editor:
Where did families and friends go during school vacation last week? The University of Southern Maine pulled off a fantastic and exciting Earth Day Celebration on the Portland campus on Saturday, April 21. Kids of all ages won great door prizes, attended cool workshops and witnessed the planting of a new crab apple tree on our campus.
A small group of students and staff at the University of Southern Maine came together to make a strong positive experience for everyone involved in our Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 21. I am very proud we pulled together as a team and it reflects the genuine effort that makes an Earth Day successful. Special thanks to Heather Monroe, Janine Gorham, Paxton Coffin, Kim Lawrence, Brett Hallett, Lee Forest, George Hamilton and Dave Early for their great deal of time, support, effort and ideas to make this year’s Earth Day event successful.
Thank you to all the individuals and businesses who generously contributed donations for our door prizes and spread the word for our event.
Don’t worry if you missed this year’s event because next year will be bigger and more exciting!! If you would like to contribute ideas, host a workshop and/or volunteer with us next year, please call Jonathan at 780-4962.
Thank you,
Jonathan Layburn
