What’s your name?
Dana Fisher.
How old are you?
Thirty-one.
What’s your major?
Masters in business administration.
How long have you been here?
I’ve been living in Portland for two years.
Where before here?
North Carolina. I’ve been all over though.
Where’d you get your undergraduate degree from?
The University of Chicago. It was in philosophy and sociology, but in between I went to the University of California at Davis to study brewing science.
Is that like brewing as in beer?
Yeah, I guess you could say I’ve been a brew master for five years.
Do you work at any breweries?
I was working in North Carolina, but I think I’ll step entirely out of brewing.
What’s your favorite beer?
Breakfast, lunch or dinner?
Go down the list.
For breakfast it’s Gritty’s Black Fly Stout. Lunch, probably a Sierra Nevada. Dinner. well, that’s a hard one. Hampshire Special.
Do you like a light beer or a dark beer?
I like all different styles.
What’s your favorite brewery around here?
All the local brews are great. There are no bad local breweries. I actually started brewing in Portland in 1994 at the Casco Bay Brewing Co.
What brought you to Portland?
My wife Janet has family here. We figured it would be good to settle down.
What’s your daughter’s name?
Eve.
How old is she?
Five months.
Is she your first?
Yes.
Your last?
Probably not.
How do you like USM?
So far I’m pretty impressed with it. I’m impressed with their use of the Internet as kind of a black board for students. I don’t know too many schools that capitalize on that.
Any advice for other USM students?
Ale is a strong wrestler; flings all he hath met and makes the ground slippery though it be not wet.
