A Dell computer and monitor was reported missing from a storage room in the Science Building on the Portland campus. The computer, worth around $1,500, was last seen on August 21, according to police. The theft is still under investigation.
Friday, August 31
A Portland Hall resident told police he was being followed at approximately 4 a.m. while walking along Congress Street. The man who was pursuing the student was driving a dark green Oldsmobile Achieva, according to police. Officers from the Portland Police Department were also called in, but the potential stalker was not found.

Two tires were slashed on a car parked in the Portland Hall lot. The damage, amounting to $150, was discovered around 1:23 a.m., according to police. No other cars were reported damaged.
Saturday, September 1
A Portland Hall resident found anti-gay graffiti written on his door’s message board.
“Even though it was a message board, it was still a form of harassment,” said Det. Sgt. Ron Saindon of the USM Police Department.
The case has been referred to the State Attorney General’s Office.
Sunday, September 2
Two residents of Dickey Hall’s eighth floor were charged with possession of marijuana around 11:30 p.m. The residents will be referred to the Office of Community Standards, USM’s student judicial board. According to policy, such offenses can also go before public law enforcement agencies and the residents could be expelled.
Monday, September 3
A wallet was stolen from a Philippi Hall resident who left a pile of personal items on the first floor around 11:15 p.m.
“It was just in a moment’s time,” said Det. Sgt. Saindon.
The wallet was not found.

Two Yamaha computer speakers were reported stolen from a third floor office in the Science Building. Police are still investigating.
