“I believe that a casino will economically benefit Maine as well as giving Mainers more job opportunities. However, most of the profit will go to Las Vegas and I think Maine should get more of the benefits if the casino is allowed.”

“I feel the casino would not benefit the state of Maine. I don’t think there will be tax relief or more revenue for us. And since we can’t change the bill for 20 years, it doesn’t seem beneficial. I don’t think its something that is characteristic of our wonderful state.”

“The casino would benefit the state of Maine because it would lower taxes and increases the amount of jobs all around. The casino promises 10 thousand jobs and they would pay half of the total tax cost in the state of Maine. The economy seems to be going down hill right now; it would be nice to have a little boost.”

“It has both negative and positive impact. But I oppose the building of a casino because of not only the environmental impacts but also the social impacts Example: addiction to gambling, promoting alcohol abuse. Let’s use the land more wisely. Let’s protect it.”

“I’m really split on the situation. I am pleased that it will bring over 100 million [dollars]to the state and will bring many jobs but at the same time it could bring an over flow of people and the true beauty of Maine could be lost.”
