As many of you are aware, our University is the process of closing a $3 million dollar budget gap, and thus making large scale changes that will directly effect you and all future USM students.
As the process of restructuring takes place, we have held 2 convocations; in which many members of the USM community came together to define USM’s strengths and identify what; as an institution we should build upon.
The restructuring design team – led by Jim Shaffer- Chief Operating Officer and Dean of the School of Business – is now in the process of collecting all feedback from these convocations and laying out a design for a New USM. Some of these changes will be innovations; but many will be consolidations and cuts. So we as students must come together to examine this proposed design and make our mark by giving our feedback.
In order to do this, the Student Government will be hosting a series of hour-long?forum events on all three campuses.
Now what’s in it for you? You have a rare opportunity to take part in the transformation of your University. You can make a lasting contribution to the future of your institution.
You can voice your concerns in a constructive atmosphere and pose meaningful solutions, with fellow students. So I invite you to join this conversation and attend one or many of the forum events.?
If you would like to be involved in facilitating or planning the forums, please attend a meeting on Monday, March 1 from 1 to 3 pm in room 143 C of the Woodbury Campus Center.
