A female student was assaulted and robbed by a man near the intersection of School and Church Streets in Gorham at around 2 a.m. while returning to the Gorham campus, according to a campus safety alert Monday afternoon.
The student reported she fell to the ground after the assailant struck her in the face. He then took cash and other items from her wallet.
The suspect was described as a white male in his early to mid-20s with brown hair and a beard. According to police, the suspect is very thin, approximately 5’8″ tall, and was wearing a black jacket and dark pants at the time. He was last seen heading in the direction of Main Street.
USM Police Lt. Ron Saindon said the victim reported the incident to the USM Police. Since it happened off-campus, the case was referred to the Gorham PD.
