18 year old Timothy McLaughlin of Woodward Hall was summonsed to court for possession of marijuana.

Hate-oriented messages against a student were reported. The USM police department, which does not tolerate racist crimes, is currently investigating the situation. “USM has an absolute zero tolerance for hate bias incidents and crimes,” stated Det. Srg. Ron Saindon. All incidents of this nature are referred to the Attorney General’s office.
Saturday, Nov.17
George Graves, 22 years old, of Presque Isle, was charged for violating a trespass order. An officer saw Graves on campus and recognized him. He is to appear in court on Dec.20 and if found guilty, will be charged a fine, and possibly even serve jail time.
19 year old Benjamin Marshall of Dickey Hall was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to Cumberland County jail. He was being loud and abusive, and did not calm down when officers warned him to do so.
Brian Blodgett, 19 years old, of Hastings Hall was also transported to Cumberland County jail for the same reasons as Marshall.

Former USM student Frederick Butler, age 32, was sentenced to six and 1/2 years in prison for receiving child pornography over the Internet at a computer lab on the Lewiston-Auburn campus during the fall of 2000.
Butler, who is already in prison for violation of probation in connection with a 1995 case for gross sexual assault against two boys, pleaded guilty in July and was sentenced today in a U.S. District Court. According to Det. Srg. Ron Saindon, the investigation was a joint investigation between the Maine Computer Crime Task Force and USM police.
