At 3 p.m., a professor reported receiving a written correspondence that he believed to be harassing. The case is under investigation and University of Southern Maine police officials were unable to make any comment at the time.
Wednesday, Sept. 19
At 1:48 a.m. police arrested Nathan P. Thibodeau on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The other three passengers in the car, who all received alcohol violations, were let out at the Towers and the vehicle was secured. Police took Thibodeau for a breathalyzer test and he was summoned to court for Oct. 12.
Wednesday, Sept. 19
At 1:43 p.m. a Dickey Hall resident reported a criminal threatening complaint. She had messages left on her dry erase board on her door.
Thursday, Sept.20
At 11:43 p.m. a male student residing in Anderson Hall received a police violation and a conduct code violation when police discovered he had a blow pipe and darts in his room. The weapons were confiscated
“Dart projectiles and pellet guns are all in violation of the conduct code policy; therefore, we strictly enforce this code for safety reasons,” said Det. Ron Saindon.

A cell phone and radio was reported stolen from the Science building in Portland at approximately 1:56 p.m.

At 1:56 p.m., a Philippi Hall resident reported having cash stolen. The money was taken from her purse.
Sunday, Sept. 23
Someone poured soap into the fountain outside the Brooks Student Center in Gorham, contaminating the air cooling system for the building. According to Carl Hill, assistant director of Facilities Services for Gorham Student Life the main concern is that certain soaps are corrosive. Depending on how long the soap ran through the system, if the soap was corrosive, major damage may have been caused. In order to fix the system, it needs to be drained, flushed out, and then started all over. The fountain has been shut down for the season and the cost of the damage is yet known.
Tuesday, Sept. 25
Three separate hit-and-run motor vehicle accidents were reported. The first incident was reported on the Gorham campus when the owner came out to find her car had been struck. Damage has been estimated at $400 to $500. The second hit-and-run took place in parking lot P-2. Damage is around $1,200. The third hit-and-run also took place in Portland lot P-2. The car that was reported to be involved was not located and when police ran the registration number of the vehicle it was not found in the Department of Motor Vehicles file.
