The Outdoor Adventure Board, commonly referred to as OAB pulled off an amazing 3 days 2-night white water rafting and camping trip with the Caratunk Maine company, Adventure Bound. The Outdoor Adventure Board hosts many events throughout the year such as mountain biking, skiing, and snow tubing, just to name a few. The week before this trip I was seriously questioning if college was right for me anymore, but thanks to OAB and everyone who made a trip like that possible, I was able to feel the sense of community I thought I had lost. Who would have thought a random group of about a dozen college students and a couple of fantastic guides could create some of my best memories in college so far? Skills like communication and teamwork were enhanced as we paddled through the Kennebunk River with beaming smiles drawn across all of our faces. Not to mention the 2nd night where we camped out at a remote campsite right on a lake. A core memory was created at sunset when we jumped into the freezing lake screaming with joy after 10 minutes in a canvas tent sauna. Conversations around a campfire with people I’d be lucky if I had the chance to even walk by them again on campus. Reader, you too can experience the joys of nature with OAB. I highly recommend following their Instagram @usm.oab and checking out the app CampusGroups. Take a step out of your comfort zone, I promise you won’t regret it. Looking forward to future adventures with The Outdoor Adventure Board and am so grateful for an amazing weekend.
