But Doesn’t Everybody Gamble?
Compulsive gambling is a chronic and progressive disease, much like alcoholism or drug addiction. It’s hard to detect and difficult to treat because you can’t take away the “drug of choice” – money. People whose gambling always has predetermined and acceptable limits are at low risk of becoming compulsive gamblers.
Men’s Lacrosse Pounds UNE
The USM Lacrosse Team dominated UNE on their way to an 11-5 victory over the University of New England Nor’easters, on Thursday April 8.

Hope springs eternal in Red Sox nation
April is the cruelest month — especially in Maine. Spring won’t break until mid May or even June, and we may be facing another snowstorm. Nonetheless, the baseball season officially got underway Sunday night and we can only hope that it brings milder temperatures.

What’s cerumen???
It’s sticky and shiny – but what is it? Earwax, also called cerumen, is formed by special glands in the outer part of the ear canal. Earwax is supposed to trap dust and dirt particles from the eardrum, as well as provide lubrication and act as a water repellant.

Health Beat
The popular perception is that most college students drink too much and use drugs. This image is perpetuated by the media, which often overestimates the number of college students who abuse substances. The reality is that the extent of drinking and drug use on campus varies widely, and many college students do not abuse alcohol or other drugs.
