Students can now sign up for a bed for the upcoming growing season in the USM Community Garden, located at the site of the closed day care’s playground, in between the Woodbury Campus Center and the Science Building in Portland.
The growing season begin in May and last through the fall 2011 semester. A security deposit of $20 is required and the deadline is March 15. Students can sign up in the SGA Business Office in the Woodbury Campus Center.
The new season is bringing some new additions to the garden, which now has one successful season under its belt after being started last summer. There will be larger beds, 4 by 12 feet, and a cold frame to start seedlings in. Student groups can also sign up for a bed together now as well.
