For the 27th consecutive year USM hosted the Western Maine MATHCOUNTS competition. The competition between eight Maine middle schools was held Saturday, Feb. 5 in Bailey Hall on the Gorham Campus.
The competition consisted of three rounds–a “sprint round”, “target round” and “team round”, with a “countdown round” and awards ceremony later in the day. Each middle school competed for a chance to move on to the state championship on Saturday, March 26.
The MATHCOUNTS Competition is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of contests.
