Students from Maine high schools will converge on the USM Portland campus for the fifth annual Maine Titan Challenge. The day-long event, held Feb. 17 in the seventh floor events room of the Glickman Library in Portland, is part of Maine Entrepreneur Week.
The Maine Titan Challenge is a business strategy competition focusing on leadership and creativity, according to Junior Achievement Maine, the organization sponsoring the event.
Participants in the event will spend the day as the CEO of their own virtual corporation, learning the nuances global business in a competitive market. Each of the 25 teams consisting of three students will have a professional business consultant or sponsor.
The winning team will receive cash, savings bonds or scholarships.
According to a university press release, Maine Entrepreneur Week, which takes place Feb. 12 through Feb. 19, is an effort to cultivate the creative efforts of entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the state.
