The Portland Wind Trio will blow open the 2005-2006 Faculty Concert Series with their show “Stolen Jewels: An evening of French Treasures.” The trio will showcase original French pieces played on different instrumentations.
USM music professor and Principal Clarinetist for the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Thomas Parchman is on clarinet. Fellow USM music professor and Principal bassoonist for the Maine Chamber Ensemble, Ardith Keef is rocking on the bassoon. And Alison Hale will be playing flute. The show will also feature guest pianist Chris Lewis.
Expect to hear pieces by composers such as Jacques Ibert, Francis Poulenc, and Gabriel Faure. “I’m thrilled to have a chance to play the Faure violin sonata e than those he wrote for flute,” says Alison Hale.
A reception will be hosted prior to the show in the University President’s home on the Gorham campus. Gorham Savings Bank is sponsoring he event.
The show is on Friday, September 30, at 8 p.m. in Corthell Hall. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for seniors, and $5 for children.
