How lucky we all are this time of year to live in this beautiful state. The bold crimsons and lustrous goldens brighten roadsides and cityscapes, but are particularly radiant when draped over a crisp, clear lake. Sebago Lake is especially picturesque this time of year, and reflects clean simplicity.

Student Senate passes ITV proposal
The Student Senate passed a bill Friday that requiring professors of distance education courses to print out and mail offsite students their graded tests, quizzes and essays unless students waive that right.
This bill also ensures that professors and students alike are aware of an existing $5 per credit hour fee that offsite students pay in their distance education tuition.
Student senate delays Dominican Health Outreach funding
Funding for the Dominican Health Outreach program was unexpectedly delayed at last Friday’s Senate meeting when the Senate passed proposal that prevents the Senate from funding activities that give students classroom credit.
WMPG DJ assaulted in studio
Shortly after five in the early morning hours of October 10, a WMPG disc jockey was beaten in the station’s Falmouth Street studios by an assailant he had mistook for a colleague. The incident has renewed concerns regarding the safety of the Portland Campus, which has generally little activity or security after the final classes end each night.

The men’s soccer team held U-Mass Dartmouth scoreless while netting three goals this past Saturday in Gorham. The game, a conference win for the Huskies, improved their overall record to (9-3-3) and (2-2-1) in the Little East Conference (LEC).

Real’ Theatre Comes to USM With “Six Characters In Search of an Author”
On November 5, the curtain will rise at Russell Hall on Pirandello’s “Six Characters in Search of an Author,” the final production to be directed by USM faculty Minor Rootes, who is retiring at the end of this year. Originally written in 1921, the play nevertheless asks a timely question in this era of reality television: Can a performance ever be realistic?
