On Saturday, Nov. 9 the USM field hockey team fell in the Little East Conference Championship, allowing Plymouth State to gain their third consecutive title.
USM cleared its path to the title match by defeating Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at home and then taking out No. 2 ranked Keene State on Friday, Nov. 9. The loss of the championship game ended a six-game winning streak by the Lady Huskies.
Darci Holland scored the Husky’s goal late in the game on an assist from senior captain Renee Heath, after trailing by two. Despite a late game rally, USM couldn’t overcome Plymouth’s championship squad.
The win improved Plymouth State’s record to 17-1 and dropped our Huskies to 14-6.
Now USM awaits an invitation to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
