Members of the ongoing OccupyMaine protest will march Monday from its base in Monument Square to USM’s Portland campus. The march is currently scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

OccupyMaine is a protest being held in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City. The demonstrators have released a list of national and local demands, which include affordable heating oil for Mainers, bringing an end to corporate personhood, an end to capital punishment and increased financial regulation.

Protesters gathered Saturday in Monument Square to hold a “general assembly”to discuss goals and tactics. Several tents could be seen Saturday night, belonging to demonstrators choosing to stay the night. Protesters at Occupy Wall Street in New York have been camped in Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan for several weeks.
