With the Nov. 8 Election Day looming, Portland residents have just over a week before choosing their first elected mayor since the position was axed in 1923. Voters will also decide on four statewide ballot questions concerning same-day voter registration, casino and slot machines and redistricting.

Ben Chandler doesn’t bother driving to USM anymore. Chandler, a graduate student in computer science lives in Portland and used to drive to class, but he said finding a parking spot has become too much of a hassle.
