At first listen, “Elsie” appears to be little more than a tamed Gaslight record. Fallon’s unmistakable raspy voice croons heartfelt lyrics that tug on the heartstrings of nearly all of blue collar America. Gaslight’s clear punk influence is the most noticeable thing missing from the new project, so the songs are less edgy than with Fallon’s usual musical output.

The power of Sunset Hearts rests in its lofty eight member size, with each member fulfilling their individual roles without reservation, rarely overstepping their boundaries or letting individual egos get in the way. When Bruce Roullard, president of the USM Alumni Association, joined the USM chapter of the Sigma Nu fraternity as a freshman in 1981, there were four active Greek houses and ten active Greek organizations on campus, with an estimate by Roullard of around 350 students involved.
