President Selma Botman scheduled two meetings to keep faculty, staff and students informed about the implementation of the academic reorganization and the budget for Oct. 22 and Nov. 12, according to an e-mail she sent Oct. 8.
The Oct. 22 meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Sullivan Complex in Portland. Botman will give a brief update before joining interim Provost John Wright and deans Jim Shaffer, Lynn Kuzma, Andrew Anderson and Peter Pitegoff for a discussion with the audience.
The Nov. 12 meeting will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Hannaford Lecture Hall in Portland and will focus on the budget. It’s a follow up to a financial session held last year in conjunction with the faculty senate.
“I think we are in the best shape the university has been in for a very long time,” Botman said in a September interview with The Free Press. In the Oct. 8 e-mail, Botman stated that despite the solid fiscal shape USM is in, the university should make their budgets as transparent as possible.
Having someone proof read the headlines of the Free Press might be a good idea…*reoranization”?
